THE CARIBBEAN COTTON
The West Indian Sea Island is one of the oldest, rarest and most precious varieties of cotton in the world, discovered in the early 18th century in the British West Indies.
It stands out from all other cotton species for its distinctive characteristics, such as the extraordinary length (37 mm), fineness (2.8 Micronaire) and strength of its fibre, the excellent percentage of uniformity (86%) and the remarkable brightness.
THE CULTIVATION
Sea Island cotton is grown exclusively in specific Caribbean microclimates and its annual production is approximately 150 bales.
Albini Yarns plays an active role and has direct control over the cultivation of Sea Island, following its production personally and ensuring high quality standards.
WISICA (West Indian Sea Island Cotton Association) inspects every single kilo of locally produced cotton and releases the Certificate of Authenticity for SEA ISLAND branded yarns, guaranteeing the purity of this precious raw material.
